Chilled biscuits not cool
Researchers have made a chilling discovery about the safety of biscuits served straight from the refrigerator. Their initial studies show a clear correlation between the propensity of someone to have a biscuit related incident and the temperature of the sweet, crumbly treat.
In their study of over 1,000 biscuits, they found that chilled biscuits could be up 14% more hazardous than those at room temperature.
A top food scientist said "We recorded that biscuits with a higher butter or fat content seemed to be most susceptible to the lowering in temperature - causing unusual hardening and increasing the risk to biters."
Some experts speculate that while lower temperatures can increase the risk to biscuit lovers, there may be an opposite trend where increasing the temperature could remove some risks all together. It seems further research is needed to fully understand the true effects of temperature, but with limited funding the public may never know.
A spokesman from the BBAB said, “This is exactly the kind of research which supports our view that there should be clearer on-pack advice and education in the work place.”
